Individual & Group Therapy

For many types of mental health needs, combining Individual therapy (where the patient receives therapy in one-on-one sessions with a counselor) and Group Therapy (a small group of people with similar needs meet together with a counselor) produces a successful result.

This form of therapy works well in addiction treatment, as the skills learned in one type of session often complement and strengthen the skills learned in the other.

During individual therapy sessions, the patient works to acquire self-knowledge and understanding of their negative thought patterns that lead to destructive behavior. These sessions depend on the needs of the patient but are typically once per week. At GD Psych Services, LLC, we carefully monitor a patient’s progress and work to provide them with a functional strategy that fits their daily needs. As the patient grows in insight and self-reflection, they are better able to identify their thoughts and emotions, and they become increasingly capable of handling these thoughts and emotions in a more calculated and mindful manner.

Group therapy sessions also typically meet once per week with the counselor, and help the members of the group learn coping strategies, practice communication skills, and share hope and strength with others in similar situations. Group therapy under the guidance of GD Psych Services, LLC takes place in a safe environment where individuals can share, offer support to one another, and change together.
